He is staying consistent in his growth, of course the doctor said he is " wider then he is tall"... basically she called my son fat in a subtle way!
He did great, like always, he had his DTap and Rotateq. One is a liquid that they make him swallow which he did not mind (of course --- hence the weight problem) and the other is a healthy size needle that they stick deep into his chunky leg. He is tough because he only whimpered for a second and then was over it (no tears).
Spoke to the doctor about his sleeping or shall we say lack there of. After hearing what we were doing at night her suggestions were to make sure that he was awake enough when he went to sleep to know where he was when he woke up in the middle of the night. Currently he falls asleep during nursing or on daddy's chest and then when he awakes in his pack-n-play he doesn't understand where he is... now part of that makes sense but I think sometimes it doesn't matter where the boy awakes he is just going to freak out because he is hungry. Which is what we talked about next. But the doctors major stress on this topic was that it was time for Jacob to get out of our room while sleeping and move to his own bedroom. She said that some of his problem is the fact that he can smell mommy when he wakes up and he correlates that smell with eating. We may start trying to do that this weekend but we have to find the proper mattress. A whole different story that I really don't have time to get into right now.
As you all know he has started eating cereal and different fruits and vegetables each day. We are pretty decent about it but with our crazy schedules he may or may not get cereal every day. The doctor wanted to emphasize that he needed to have at least one meal of cereal each day and by nine months he should be eating three meals a day. She basically said for right now to give him cereal and a fruit in the morning and then at night give him cereal and veggie. By 9 months, he should be in a routine where he has a cereal and fruit in the morning, a fruit or vegetable for lunch, and cereal and vegetable for dinner. She also stressed no eggs, honey, or uncooked apples/pears until he was over 1yr of age. The other interesting thing she said was that we could start smashing bananas up and letting him pick them up and start feeding himself. He would probably gag on them but that is good in teaching him how to eat.
We have decided to have Jacob on an alternative vaccination schedule, which is not really approved by most that practice modern medicine. This was the first time that we had taken Jacob to this particular doctor and she was really nice and helpful until we got to the vaccination part. This is where she rubbed Holly the wrong way, but this seems to be a common theme at this particular practice....which is why we like our other doctor but he's quite popular; booked until September.
The only other thing that made his mommy kind of upset was when the doctor was looking over the measurements and noticed the consistent growth of his head size. She just mentioned, if it grows at this pace the next visit then they will probably run an ultrasound to make sure that nothing is wrong because his head should kind of slow down in growth. But she doesn't realize that he is a Saunders and we just have big heads... Some kids have big ears, big eyes, big feet, big hands. My son has a big head like his daddy (if your computer has more RAM then you have to have a larger motherboard --- you see what I am getting at).
Anyway, he came out of the check up looking healthy and as all ways was a great baby the whole time that we were in the doctors office.

Sounds great guys! He sure is growing like a weed! And try not to stress about the head size...remember Kristen's girls were the opposite and their heads were smaller and they kept having to do checks on them, too! It's all good!
Give that boy a squeeze for me, I miss seeing him...especially after our time together last week!!!
