Jacob makes trip to see Opa...

Yesterday we packed up the car and "Team Saunders" headed up to Fredericksburg to see "OPA".  It was a very good trip as Jacob got introduced to his Opa (German for Grandfather) for the very first time.  Just seeing mommy and Jacob brought a smile to Opa's face.  Opa got to hold the boy and even gave him his standard baby comment "Hey There".  Today was a proud day for Grandfather and Mommy, who could show her father her son and to let him know in person that she was a mommy.  It was an amazing experience and I was honored to be a part of the moment.

**Shout Out**
Thanks to everyone for their support and love during this time when we are learning to be a family. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to bring over meals for us, we have really enjoyed every one of them. They have made the transition that much easier.
OMA I want to thank you for everything that you have done for the last two weeks. There is NO way that we could have made the transition without you being here and taking care of everything around the house and running ALL of the errands.  So Jacob, Mommy, and Daddy thank you and we hope that we will be able to survive without you. We are really blessed to have such great family and friends.

**UPDATE**

Jacob is growing and changing everyday.  Mommy and Jacob are doing an amazing job with nursing.  There are a lot of sleepless nights but both are doing a great job.  We took Jacob to the doctor this week for the two week check-up and everything is looking good.  He weighed in at 7lbs 14 1/2 oz (by now he is already at 8lbs).

What a blessing to see how Opa's face lit up to see both Holly and Jacob. I know that made his day. The pictures made me cry. I'm glad you made the trip. I know Opa appreciated it too. He looks so much better than the last time I saw him (in August) when he was in the hospital. He looks like he enjoyed the visit. Hope you can get up there more often now.

Hang in there before you know Jacob will be sleeping through the night.

Take care.

Love ya'll,
Liddie

It was a privilege and honor to play a small part in the adjustment to home for Jacob, Holly, and Jeff. Opa always said that new mothers need someone to do the everyday chores and the errands, and let the new mom and dad take care of the baby. And he said they need this at least two weeks. (Probably longer with C section, but I had to go home.) Holly and Jeff are amazing new parents. Opa would be so proud of how they handled everything. I know I am.

Love Oma
