Well, we are about a month away from the Oct. 13th due date but based on my previous C-section, our doc wants us to set a date for week 39 and see how things go before then. I feel pretty good, swelling more each day however and seem to have some serious loosening ligaments and muscles as I have pulled a few here lately. The house is not 100% ready, but hopefully we'll get there in the next week or so. I always look forward to these last appointments as they are very tell-tale in regards to dilation etc. I have an appointment late this week and an ultrasound next week to see how big he is--although it will be hard to tell. I would guess about 6.5 lbs right now :-) I would love to have a VBAC however we also don't need any undo risk. Grayson is definitely more active than Jacob was, He's a mover...and has some strong heels. We are looking forward to a baby "sprinkle" being thrown by some friends this afternoon--with such a busy and stressful summer it's nice to just focus on baby stuff for a little while. Poor Grayson hasn't gotten as much publicity online or documentation, so here are a few tidbits from this pregnancy and what his expectant big brother Jacob understands about his baby brother coming:
-Mom was nauseous this time up through week 18--about 6 or 7 weeks longer than with Jacob
-Mom got a bad virus which caused more nausea for a few weeks in the middle, from week 27-29 or so. It's been rough on the intestinal tract this time around
-I haven't gained as much weight, but still have a few weeks to go :-) although I didn't need to gain as much as I still had not quite hit my target goal yet with only a year off, so a few lbs still lingered on...
-I stopped dancing earlier, around the time Opa got sick. The first week of July was my last class...I miss it, but will get back there when I can.
-Grayson was named around week 32 or so if I had to guess.
-It's busier. From work, to coming home and fixing dinner, to toddler time in the evenings as Jacob finally goes down for bed, so does mom. Jacob still has sleeping issues as he wakes up once a night to sleep with dad...who gives mom room and sleeps in the guest room. Thanks to Jeff, he has spared me many nights of more restless sleep by taking over. Thankfully he always goes right back to bed, he just moves a lot.
-If I'm awake at night for more than a few minutes, Grayson also wakes up and will kick and move for at least an hour-hence why Jeff's night duty calls are so precious to my sleep.
-Jacob will see my bare belly and say "baby" and then say "BYE!" and pull my shirt back down.
-Jacob can kind of say Grayson, although it comes out more like "Grace" or sometimes "dayson"
-Jacob Loves Grayson's "choo choo" room. He freaked out the first time he saw Grayons's train carpet and Loves to get in to his crib and play around...especially after bath time. He's already christened it with a small golden shower. He names all of the animals on the bumper--giraffe, monkey, etc.
I am nervous, excited, and somehow not quite mentally prepared this time around with so much else going on but I'm sure we'll be just fine.
