What Jacob has accomplished in the last few weeks is pretty remarkable:
- he finally said "momma" as previously discussed in Holly's blog.
- he says hi and bye and waves while saying them.
- he has taken up to 3 small steps without holding on to something.
- he has started to eat table food. Chicken, Brisket, Mashed Potatoes, Nana's Meatballs, Squash/Zucchini, bread, pot roast, pickle, strawberries, and grapes are among some of the things that he has taken a liking to.
- he has started to make the kissing noise when you give him kisses.
- he says "ball"
- he is starting to grasp the concept of throwing the ball.
- he says "hi" when he is holding the phone.
- he will give a high-five upon command.
These are just some of the new and exciting things that are going on in Jacob's development.
Today, mommy had to take Jacob to the doctor upon the request of the sitter because he has had a runny nose with a chest cough. With her being pregnant and the epidemic known as the H1N1 active in Richmond we did not want to take any chances. You would not believe all of the sick kids at the doctors office, it was unbelievable. Luck for us he just has a little cold.
We received some disappointing news the other day. After keeping Jacob since Holly went back to work we were informed that our sitter is no longer going to be in the childcare profession. She has just gotten re-married, pregnant, and has two girls in pre-school and elementary. She has been really sick and tired during the pregnancy and with her girls daily needs finds it too much to take on another child. So we are back to the drawing boards with childcare for Jacob. We have 4 weeks to find alternative arrangements. If you have a good referral please let us know so we can research the possibility.
It is going to be tough on us because after getting comfortable with leaving Jacob with a stranger for the day we have to start all over and find the best situation for his growth and development. My long-term goal is to provide financially so that Holly will have the option to stay home with the kid(s) but that will probably only be possible if/when we have another one.
Jacob got to dress up in his halloween costume today and parade around Holly's office as they had all of the kids of employees come to the office for a pre-halloween trick or treat day. I will post some pictures later of him in his superman outfit.
He is still mama's boy but he is transforming into a little boy so fast... where did our baby go to???
Please keep Dr. Lloyd and the rest of the Lloyd Family in your thoughts and prayers as they go though these tough times.
