2 Month Check-up...

So last doctor's appointment we had "the talk" about vaccination with the doctor who encouraged us that it would be in our best interest to give multiple shots to Jacob.  I am not going to go into great details about that appointment but if you are interested you can refer back to the blog insert if you missed it the first go around.  After many hours of researching and debating Holly and I became very comfortable with the vaccination schedule that we are going to follow for Jacob.  He will get all of his shots we are just going to space them out so he doesn't get hit with everything all at once and send his little undeveloped immune system into overload.
This appointment he had the DTap (a shot that was given in his left thigh) and Rotavirus (oral). The nurse started with the Rotavirus where Jacob would drink some then spit some of it out. Then they stuck him with the needle, which was a pretty good size shot. I think it hurt mommy more then it hurt Jacob. He cried for a minute but quickly got over it.
Next appointment will be a shot only appointment where he will get the Pneumococcal Vaccine & HIB.  If we followed the normal vaccine schedule he would have gotten the shots that he had plus the two that we pushed back a month, along with the Polio shot.  Could we be over vaccinating our children??? That is the big question...

Here are some numbers from this visit:
Weight: 13lbs 6oz. 75th - 90th Percentile
Height: 22 5/8" 50th Percentile
Head: 16 1/8 75th Percentile
(the nurse obviously did not measure his head correctly last appointment. Which means that Jacob is built just like daddy --- short, fat, and has a big head)

It officially has been 9 weeks that Jacob has granted us with his presence and wow has it been an awesome ride.  A co-worker asked me this week "Jeff, did you ever think that you could love someone this much?". I really did not know, I thought that I could, but I can truthfully say that I had no idea that I could love one person this much.  WE TRULY HAVE BEEN BLESSED.

Thanks for the mat, Jenna... Jacob loves it --- everyday he gets 20 to 30 minutes of fun/education on the mat.
